There will be Prizes, Team Vampires versus Team Werewolves, Team Kevin vs. Team Fallon, Reveals, and More!

PLUS – because I’m truly grateful to all of you who have read and stayed with the journey of Briony, Fallon, Kevin, Aunt Sophie, and the people of Wicked all this time and have made the series more than it initially planned to be, I’m gifting the first 100 people who purchase a copy of Shifter when it comes out tomorrow on Kindle and send a receipt to info (at) theEDGEbooks (dot) com, a copy of Supernatural Devices (so the fun continues if you love Wicked Woods, you will love the Steampunk Scarlett series, too)!

Shifter is jammed packed with so much action, romance, and everything; I can’t even begin to tell you the details.  All I can say is, there is going to be a lot of closure and questions answered, challenges and heartfelt emotions.  I hope you will enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed the journey.

If I WAS a Bookseller, Which of My Books Would I Recommend?

Wouldn’t it be great if we had more information available when we make a purchase?  This is especially true when it comes to buying a house or even a car.  If you’re like my husband, who researches everything before a big purchase, then wouldn’t it be great if information will be available right at the point-of-purchase, right at the tip of your fingertips?

Well, buying a book to read for pleasure is not quite the same as buying a house or buying a car.  Although believe it or not, many homebuyers and car buyers do less research on a home or a car than people who buy books.  I’ve been a real estate broker and have sold million dollar homes to people who would just have a sheet of paper, a photo of the house, and an one-time visit.  I’ve bought a house based on an one-time visit, and it turned out to be the house we loved most and lived in the longest in so far.

Now when it comes to buying a book, we rely on booksellers and the information they provide.  Many times, it’s just the blurb and some reviews.  And recommendations.

Who knows a book better than its author?  If authors were booksellers, how would they describe their book?

This is HOW I Would Recommend My Books:

1) The PULSE Series – Want sexy vampires and a girl with the special blood that can turned them human again?  PULSE is a series for age 16 and up that critics have been comparing to Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and any other vampire books to film or television show they have seen.  Because that’s the type of vampire world people are familiar with right now. The difference with PULSE is the vampires’ characters, the history between vampires and Life’s Blood Carriers like Kalina, and the romance.  PULSE now has 9 books out in the series and spin-off, and is read all over the world.  The film for PULSE begins development in 2012.

2) Bitter Frost, Frost Series – Want to enter and escape into a world of magic, fantasy, and romance?  Enter Feyland, the enchanted land of the fey where beautiful and dangerous fey and fey-like creatures live.  Feyland was first introduced to the world through the Fairy Rose Chronicles in 2003, when I began my fiction-writing career writing middle grade to teen books.  Fairy Rose Chronicles was written for age 9 and up, with the later books more for teens.  When Bitter Frost, the first of the Bitter Frost Series was introduced, with some of the characters from the Fairy Rose and a Feyland that takes place 5 years later from the Fairy Rose Chronicles, Feyland’s War of the Seasons is well underway, and has escalated to the taking of royal prisoners, which led to the Summer King’s banished daughter being brought back to Feyland after having grown up in the human world.  Bitter Frost is Breena Malloy’s story and how she navigated the dangerous political world of the Fey to become one of the most legendary leaders of Feyland.  The Frost Series has been contracted to become a multimillion dollar MMO Game. Release of the game is scheduled for 2013 or 2014.  Currently, there are over 14,000 fans and growing for the Frost Series as buzz about this under-the-radar book franchise is gaining more attention.

3) Desire – Escape into a perfect world where everyone’s life is planned out for them.  DESIRE is a dystopian fantasy romance that has a bit of paranormal. It melds genres and people are calling the DESIRE series “Original” and “Literary Genius”.  There is an incredible romantic triangle in DESIRE between Kama, her best friend and long-time boyfriend Liam, and a sexy stranger who knew more about Kama than she did named Torrid. There are already 3 books out in the DESIRE Series with another, Passion, set for release in 2012.

4) Fire Wars – Fire Wars is Greek and Roman Mythology in a Dystopian world.  The world takes place hundreds, perhaps thousands of years in the future when the land has eroded into islands.  Mackenzy Evers is a girl who has moved from place to place with her single mother, who has steadily climbed the career ladder as an Events Director at luxury hotels.  The latest place they move to is Aeros Island, which has more lush vegetation and natural beauty than anywhere else on Earth.  There Mac meets Chance Cutter, son of her mother’s boss, the wealthy Antonio Cutter of Cutter Imperial Hotels. He’s mysterious, sexy, and wants nothing to do with Mac, except for the intense attraction they feel whenever they cross paths.  Then there’s Varun Cutter, the down-to-earth cousin of Chance, who lives and works at the hotel, too.  Both of them have connections to Mac stronger than she can ever imagined, and as she finds out more about who she is, and what she is, she learns that her role in Earth’s future is critical.  The Fire Wars had its world premiere at the Orange Country Children’s Book Festival this year!

Here’s where you can watch the Trailer

And of course, I would recommend the following book series as well:  Beautiful Beings, FADE, Steampunk Scarlett, Stoker Sisters, Phantom Diaries, Harold the Kung Fu Kid, Queen B Superheroine, The Wordwick Games, and Wicked Woods.

How about you? Remember everyone has their own ideas of how Breena, Kian, Logan, Shasta, Rodney, and Delano (from FROST) should look OR Kalina, Aaron, Stuart, Jaegar, Octavius, Maeve, and Justin (from PULSE).

As you know, PULSE, is being made into a film. More details will be available at some point. Filmmaking, especially film developing takes some time, so I’ll let you know when I can reveal more.  The casting is yet to be determined. Let us know who you think should play your favorite characters in PULSE.  You never know…we may be able to get a favorite actor to be part of the film.  We’ll see…

The Rise of the Fire Tamer (Wordwick Games, #1) Gets a New Cover to Match the New Series Look and is Expanded.

As usual Kailin Gow rocks out the YA genre with her work. I absolutely adore her books and think she’s one to watch.

This book, of course, was great! I love the world building that she did…For me, it’s always just right. The characters in this one were great and I loved the storyline.
Here’s a sneaky little thing that Kailin did with the book…she made it educational. *shhh Don’t tell anyone!* LOL! In it you learn a lot of new words along with definitions but it’s combined so well into the story that you don’t really think about the fact that you’re learning. It was awesome!
Besides all that though, it really was just an excellent story…I always manage to get lost in her writing and I’m through the books before I even realize it.
If you haven’t checked her out yet then I think you should!

– Kristina, Cajun Book Lady, Blog

This book caught my eye right away. The story line alone made me want to pick it up and keep reading.

The book takes on the point of view of all the main characters with a focus on the POV of Gem. The book starts with the winners of the wordwick games, once these 5 are announced they get the chance to stay at the creator of the Wordwick Games’ castle where they get to play the newest level in the game. Once they get the tour of the place, Henry Word (the inventor) sends them off to there rooms where the journey to the new Level and amazing world of Anachronia. The team soon learns of the rules to win the game and find out that words represent a great part of winning. Words are power; they can be used as weapons or as a way to control a situation.

As the players travel through the land making friends and enemies they must find a way to follow all the rules and win the game. Becoming the best player, and the crowned ruler of Anachronia.

The teens encounter strange creatures and intense road blocks. With a world filled with war, trolls, wizards and even dragons it’s hard to be bored. When the gamers feel like something is up they come to realize that the game may not just be a game, they fear that the damage they take and the life they’re living is real.

The ending to this story was fantastic, with twist and turns that leave you wondering about the truth, when reality finally hits the ending will leave you asking for more!
A must read for those who love adventure and fantasy, competition and suspense.
A great start and I can’t wait to know what happens next.

– Melissa Silva, The Bookshelf

This is a very clever book. My Asian parents would approve since it’s educational as well. I’m exposed to actual words on the SAT tests, while being completely and utterly lost (happily) in this fantasy world. The teens at first appeared to fit into gamer stereotypes, but as they move forward into the story, the masks all come off. You will root for these teens. You will feel what each of them feel. As is shown by this experimental fiction book, Ms. Gow is an author to watch. She is not afraid to try a new perspective or point-of-view. Characteristic of the young adult books I’ve read of hers, this one is fast-paced, highly-imaginative, and contains amazing plot twists and turns throughout. Gem is a heroine teen girls would like. She’s smart and resourceful. She reminds me of Katniss in Hunger Games, although the Wordwick Games is more of a fantasy game than the Hunger Games.

– Naya Singh, Book Club moderator

What a good book!! I found myself drawn into the action right from the beginning. My favorite parts were the little paragraphs at the end of each chapter that told you what each of the main characters was doing or thinking at the end of that chapter. I liked that the book had good strong female characters. It addressed that teens are usually thinking what everyone is thinking of them. I liked the fact that words had such power in the game. Words do have a strong impact in our world and I thought that the story illustrated this well as to the destructive power of some of the words that were used. I will definately be passing this on to my teenage daughter and even my older daughter who is in her 20′s.
